The National-Louis University Master of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies with National Board Certification adds to a growing number of universities nationwide looking to create greater alignment in advanced degrees in teaching with National Board Certification. The National-Louis University program is the first program in the city to fully integrate National Board Certification into a master's degree curriculum and program, effectively making them part of one unified process.

To date, NLU has established four cohorts of more than 45 teachers pursuing NBC through its innovative master's program. Additionally, NLU has aligned more of its teacher preparation and development programs with the Core Propositions of National Board Certification.

Teachers hired through alternate routes stay teaching in Chicago

Seventy percent of teachers hired through alternate routes stay in Chicago for at least 5 years, significantly greater than the national average
We have historically been a leading model in the country for teacher preparation and training, and we see National Board Certification as the ultimate achievement for all our teachers coming out of National-Louis.
