Seventy percent of teachers hired through alternate routes stay in Chicago for at least 5 years, significantly greater than the national average
Like all school systems in America, we face a shortage of math and science teachers. Through a series of Fund investments, the district moved from having one program to a number of quality programs that prepare mid-career professionals with deep content knowledge in high-need subject areas to teach in our classrooms.
